As you walk towards Flatford Mill along the road to the north of the river, you will pass a large black building. This Granary, once owned by John Constable's father, has been sympathetically restored and now houses a Rural Bygones Museum. How would you like to spend a few days here? You can, Bed and Breakfast is offered in the tastefully converted annex - once used as the stabling for John Constable's horse, Nancy. |

It is well worth stopping to make a visit. Should it be closed, ask the person who is hiring the boats. You may find he will open it especially for you!

After crossing the river via Flatford bridge, as you walk down to look at the mill race, take a moment to admire the Granary. It makes a magnificent site reflected in the mill pond. |
